These gluten free garlic croutons are a great idea for using leftover bread. Renée and I were laughing because it is also great for those bread recipes that do not quite work out the way you intended. Use them in soups and salads; you can also add flavors to the croutons as well. This recipe is for garlic croutons, but you can make rosemary, thyme or any other flavor you want.
Instructions
- Tear or slice bread into cubes
- Heat olive oil in a large non stick pan
- Add smashed garlic cloves to oil. You can crush the garlic by laying your knife flat over the garlic on a cutting board and and hitting the knife with the palm of your hand
- Allow the garlic to infuse with the oil for about 6 minutes over medium heat or until the garlic turns a beautiful brown color. Remove the garlic and add the bread crumbs
- Sauté the bread crumbs turning them over frequently
- Add salt and pepper to taste as the bread crumbs are cooking
